Internet Security

Security starts at home, and with the latest security horror about to spread its wings, I finally found something very useful that can help all our computer systems.

If you visit this page on secunia.com, you will be offered with the option of having your system scanned through your browser or by downloaded program (both free). It will check all the programs installed on your system whether they are fully up to date. If not, it will offer a link to download the most up-to-date version, which you can install at a click.

This "latest security horror" is going to be a non-event. The number of people affected will be very small. The industry is not worried about it, just the alarmist media who have picked up the sky-is-falling refrain once again. If your Windows updates are current and your anti-virus software is up to date, you are safe.

Paul,
Of course there is a lot of hype. However, this post is about programs on people's computers that have not if ever been updated, leaving them open to things like Conficker &c.

((Hello))
Thanks so much for the info. Conficker is going to be absolutely HUGE, long term damage! And one of the scary things (there are so many) is that top security experts from around the world can't figure Conficker out or how to make us all safe from it. I've been closely watching and reading everything I can on Conficker. And they are predicting that Conficker can lay dormant for a long, long time or spread it's wings whenever it wants too.
Anybody who thinks that there safe from Conficker is crazy and this is not 'alarmist media'.
Take care all and thank you again~Gayla
