Jland Highlight

Yasmin suggested we start highlighting entries from across the community that deserve a wider airing, by linking to them in this journal.

Trees made a very moving entry in her journal Garden of Hope, about the death of her father. Pop along and have a read.

Call for Support

In case you didn't know: there is a journal where those are highlighted in our community who are in need of some extra attention. It is called Call for Support. At the moment, there are three authors (Jeannette, Yasmin and Guido) who can make an entry. Please drop us a line if you spot anyone who deserves a mention, by clicking the "Kontactr me" button in the sidebar or contacting any of us direct. Also, please relay this message in your own journal to achieve the widest possible coverage.

Lost?

Did you lose your journal in the shutdown of AOL Journals? You may still find bits of it by Googling its name, or your screenname. Click on the link marked Cached not the actual link for the journal itself. You may get an entry or two back.

AOL Binned

A reminder that AOL Pictures will cease to exist on December 31st, AOL Uncut Video on December 18th (that's this coming Thursday), together with a whole host of other minor AOL offshoots. In other words, forget about AOL for anything, except email, IM and chatrooms.

Drop a line if you have difficulties transferring your stuff away from AOL.
If you're in the USA and you lost all your stuff on Hometown, well, all isn't lost YET. It can still be retrieved. Drop a line if you want more info. All is lost if you're outside America.

Save Your Pictures

Did you get your blog transferred from AOL to Blogger? Congratulations.
Did you realise that some pictures may still be hosted on AOL? Commiserations.
You may be aware that on 31 December 2008, AOL will delete all pictures hosted on its pictures.aol.com service.

So, go to your transferred blog, view all entries in HTML mode and search for the dreaded phrase "aol". If that relates to a picture, you'll need to move the picture to outside AOL (e.g. photobucket, flickr etc) and replace the URL in the transferred blog with the new one.

Good luck.
